Sunday’s Message: In The Following Jesus Through Mark Series – A Living Presence: Mark 16:1-7

Have you ever suffered through a deep disappointment? Perhaps you were hoping for that job or for that breakthrough that never came. Perhaps you invested your life in someone else, and it ended in heartache? These are never easy times.

Imagine the state of mind of the disciples on that Passover Friday after Jesus was crucified and then laid in a tomb. Imagine how shattered they must have felt. They had invested 3 years of their lives in the hope of what Jesus stood for and what they thought they would accomplish with Him.

Jesus Christ is alive. And because He is alive, so is our hope.

On the first day of the week (Sunday), the women went to the tomb expecting to honour a lifeless body.
The disciples believed everything had ended in tragedy and were locked up in a room.

But Friday had passed, and Sunday was unfolding…

The Gospels tell us that something shifted for them.
Something turned their despair into joy. Something changed their defeat into courage.

It was the unfolding news that Jesus was alive! And not just alive but alive from the dead
This is why the resurrection is the central truth of our Christian faith.
Jesus Christ is alive. And because He is alive, so is our hope.

  • This means that this life is not all there is.
  • This means that death will not have its victory.
  • This means that all things will one day be made new.

May the life and strength and joy of Jesus flow within you today. Because I live, you also will live. – John 14:19
