On Sunday Associate Pastor Hayden preached from Psalm 73 – Dealing With Doubt.
On Sunday in Psalm 73 we looked at the how to deal with doubt regarding God’s goodness. In life it’s easy to question the goodness of God, whether through our own personal misfortunes or the lack of perceived justice in the world.
What the Psalmist taught us was that instead of fleeing from God to process our doubts, we instead need to draw near to God in Jesus. We need to encounter Jesus, the King who brings Justice, the King who is near and the King who brings blessing.
By encountering Him, drawing near to Him, we are on a better foot to process our disillusionment with God’s goodness and to be content through our seasons of doubt and suffering.
If we draw near to God, we too will be able to say with the Psalmist: My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
This week as we face another one another one of those first weeks of the year, let’s start off on the right foot, near to God and delighting in His blessing, justice and closeness, so that we may be able to face whatever may come.
